Fist Club Europe e.V. proclaims May 5th as "International Fisting Day"
Berlin, 25.04.2025
Berlin, May 5, 2025 - The Fist Club Europe e.V. is officially launching May 5 as the new "International Fisting Day". The Berlin-based association wants to create visibility, education and acceptance for a sexual practice - especially within the gay community, but also beyond.
"Fisting is more than just a sexual technique - it is an expression of intimacy, trust and freedom. May 5th should be a day on which we make this practice visible with respect, pride and education," explains Balian Richter, press spokesman for Fist Club Europe.
A new day for bodily self-determination and sexual diversity
Fisting is a physically intense practice that requires a high level of communication, consent and trust.
"We see an urgent need not only to increase visibility, but above all to actively dispel myths and enable an objective, health-conscious discourse about fisting that is based on facts," says Balian Richter, press spokesperson for Fist Club Europe e.V.
The International Fisting Day on May 5, initiated by our association, is specifically intended to disseminate sound knowledge about safe practices, hygiene and consensus and to act as a point of contact for questions. We want to close a gap by pooling resources and creating a reliable platform for education and prevention."
Why May 5?
The choice of date is no coincidence: the number 5 symbolizes the five fingers of the hand - the central element of this practice. The double number - 05.05. - is striking, clear and easy to communicate. The day is intended to symbolize a form of sexual intimacy worldwide that is often practiced in private, but is firmly anchored in many queer realities.
Demarcation from October 21
The existing "International Fisting Day" (21 October) was initiated in the USA in 2011 and focuses primarily on censorship and representation in pornography. May 5, on the other hand, focuses on the lived practice within the global gay community - with all its facets, cultural differences and personal meanings.
"Our aim is not to compete, but to complement each other. We are creating a day that emerges from the heart of the community - visible, open, self-confident and respectful," says Balian Richter.
"We invite media, sexual health organizations and the community to use May 5 as an impetus for informed education," Richter continued. "This day should be an annual event to emphasize the importance of knowledge, safety and consent in the context of fisting worldwide."
The association plans to accompany this day with its own activities and information offers in the future. Further information can be found on the website www.fistingday.org.
We would be delighted if this day were publicized through accompanying reporting. If further information or materials are required for your editorial team, we will be happy to provide them.
Today is the first International Fisting Day - for everyone who wants to know more.
Berlin, May 05, 2025
Today, May 5th, the Fist Club Europe e.V. is launching the International Fisting Day. The aim is to bring a rarely publicized sexual practice out of the shadows - not with a raised index finger, but with openness, expertise and respect.
"We don't want to convert, shock or embarrass anyone. Our only aim is to provide a platform for people who are honestly interested in the topic of fisting - whether they are gay, straight or somewhere in between," explains press spokesman Balian Richter.
The Berlin-based association sees fisting not just as a technique, but as an expression of intimacy, trust and sexual self-determination.
The choice of date is no coincidence: the number 5 symbolizes the five fingers of the hand - the central element of this practice. 05.05. - with its highly symbolic double five - marks a day that stands for a form of physical closeness that is firmly anchored in many individual sexualities and yet is rarely mentioned publicly.
Enlightenment instead of alarmism - and respect for curiosity
Fisting requires a high level of communication, consensuality and hygienic knowledge. This is exactly where Fist Club Europe e.V. comes in: with information and digital formats based on sound knowledge and practical experience. "We don't focus on provocation, but on reliability. Our aim is to give interested people guidance - without drama, without clichés," says Richter.
The association is explicitly aimed at people of all sexual orientations who are curious, have questions or have already gained experience. "Our aim is not to make fisting suitable for the masses. Our aim is to educate - for those who really want to know more," continues Richter.
A day for knowledge, respect and sexual maturity
The International Fisting Day is an initiative from the community - open and objective. In future, it will be held annually to provide factual information about safe practices, consent, physical requirements and emotional aspects.
Because if you inform yourself, you can make conscious decisions - for your own body, your own limits and your own pleasure.

Founding of Fist Club Europe e.V. - education, community and networking for an often taboo sexual practice
Berlin, 11.04.2025
With the founding of the Fist Club Europe e.V. in Berlin, a new contact point has been created for people who are committed to an open, respectful and safe approach to the sexual practice of anal fisting. While other sexual practices have been increasingly de-tabooed in recent years, anal fisting often remains excluded from public perception.
This is not only due to prejudice or ignorance, but also to the fact that society's discussion of sexual issues is usually shaped by conventions, media trends or heteronormative narratives. "Our aim is to provide well-founded knowledge, break down prejudices and create a safe space for exchange within the community," explains Balian Richter, press spokesperson for the association. "Anal fisting is often misunderstood or treated as a niche topic, but it is a practice that has a long tradition in many communities - especially among gay men. At the same time, it is also becoming increasingly important in heterosexual circles."
The association is active in the following areas:
Education & prevention - providing science-based information on hygiene, health aspects and safe practices to minimize risks and create more awareness for responsible consumption.
Community & networking - building an open, supportive community that facilitates exchange and shares experiences.
Advocacy - promoting the visibility and acceptance of the practice in the public eye and providing a strong voice for the community vis-à-vis social and political actors.
Events & Courses - Organization of workshops, meetings and social events to share knowledge and experiences.
The association's official website will soon go online, where both absolute beginners and experienced practitioners can find comprehensive information and instructions. Structured online courses are also planned, which will enable interested parties to explore the topic in a safe environment - regardless of experience or prior knowledge.
In the long term, the platform will offer a networking opportunity for interested parties worldwide to bring people with common interests together. The association is particularly aimed at gay men, but is also committed to a broader social debate on the topic. Interest in anal fisting is also growing in heterosexual circles, which is why Fist Club Europe e.V. provides targeted education and support for anyone who wants to engage in this practice in a responsible and informed manner.
The association is also available as a competent contact for the media and specialist portals. Whether guest articles, interviews or specialist articles - Fist Club Europe e.V. offers well-founded expertise and a differentiated perspective on the topics of sexual health, education and community work.
